How To Get The Ring Of Oath And Find Its Location

Navigating the expansive world of Elden Ring often leads players to mysterious barriers that block further exploration. One such obstacle appears in the Grand Cloister area after defeating Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, requiring a specific item known as the Ring of Oath. In game inventories, this essential item is officially named the Dark Moon Ring, and obtaining it is crucial for progressing Ranni the Witch's narrative.

Starting the Quest for the Key

To acquire the Ring of Oath, adventurers must first advance through Ranni's storyline until reaching the Ainsel River region. Here, players must pick up the Miniature Ranni doll from a coffin and speak with it multiple times at a Site of Grace. Persisting through her initial silence triggers dialogue that directs you to defeat a hostile invader known as the Baleful Shadow.

Defeating the Baleful Shadow in Nokstella, Eternal City, rewards players with the Discarded Palace Key. This key is the missing piece needed to unlock the physical location containing the ring itself.

Unlocking the Treasure Chest Location

With the Discarded Palace Key in hand, fast travel to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library in Liurnia of the Lakes. This chamber is the same site where you defeat Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. Located nearby among the library books rests a locked chest that previously could not be accessed.

Using the key opens the chest to reveal the Dark Moon Ring. Gathering this key item fulfills the barrier's requirement, allowing seamless progression toward the Moonlight Altar region.

Passing the Barrier and Completing the Path

Return to the boss arena behind Astel and approach the blue magical seal. Carrying the ring automatically dispels the barrier, opening the path to an elevator leading upward.

Ascending this lift leads to the Cathedral of Manus Celes, where you can complete Ranni's questline and claim your final rewards. Having a clear understanding of these steps saves valuable time and prevents unnecessary backtracking through dangerous underground regions.
